Germany and Italy unified their nations, while Latin American and African countries gained their independence. The world had wars up the wazoo: the Napoleonic Wars, the American Civil War, the Spanish Civil War, World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Cold War … The list goes on.
In the art world, we’ve entered the period of the “isms.” Neoclassicism, Romanticism, Impressionism, Expressionism, Pointillism, Post-Impressionism, Symbolism, Cubism, Surrealism … Well, you get it.
