The Early Modern Period ran from about 1450 CE to roughly 1800 CE. It started with the Renaissance, a rebirth of classical culture from antiquity. We’ve got the big four in Italy who are so famous they became namesakes for ninja turtles: Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, and Donatello. We’ve also got Tudor King Henry VIII over in England, breaking from the Catholic Church and killing his wives. Don’t worry; his daughter Elizabeth I becomes Queen and ushers in England’s golden age.
This is the era of Baroque art, the Protestant Reformation, and the Enlightenment. It was a time of revolution. The American colonists broke from the motherland and formed the United States. The French stormed the Bastille and beheaded their king. The Early Modern Period roughly ended around 1800, with the French Revolution and the rise of Napoleon.
